i think if we are paying for something we should have the ownership it too.
lets format a reply saying that 5K is too much for the job...if they can give us their Data Model diagram, we can give them the code in a week without any cost.
This is an excellent idea and a great opportunity to show case our skills. How about IV offering as non-profit organization our expertise ( from members) to help with this and reduce cost and improving efficiency of this program for USCIS - FREE OF COST.
I am aware there might be many issues with data security etc here but at least we could propose this. As a fellow member suggested this should be a report that needs to be published every few months or so to make it transparent and traceable.Ooops wait, will it show the true picture of how efficient USCIS is if they do this? :D

Either way we need to highlight this with the O'man's office first and then follow it up with Local senators and highlight it. This needs to go big way.
Getting them to give one off statement is not going to solve anything besides it might be only a starting price and might increase or are they charging the same $5000 every time somebody asks them for an update.

As the bill stands today, you are correct and unfortunately that will do more harm than any help. so we all should try to eliminate this potential trouble

I was wondering if IV core had some time to analyze this bill and summarize it for their members like the previous version of this bill. Would appreciate a quick summary of this bill with Pros/Cons in this bill for our community.
Can somebody pls do this? The main thing that I am wondering is that if you cannot place consultants on client site on H1B then what will happen to them? How will big consulting companies(the likes of Wipro, Satyam) survive?
Any ammendment on this?

The categories are determined by the *birth* country of the applicant, not where they are (in whatever status). So if you happen to born in, say, India, then you are in the quota for India even if you are a citizen/permanent resident of U.K.

What about time you already spent on H1? With NEW H1 you do not get your time back Also You do not need approval to start working with new employer. There are many differences between new and transfer.

All I hear is "incorrect", "wrong" followed by individual interpretation or opinion. I respect all disagreement part, Which may be/not be accurate. Why don't you quantify your comments with references to law or CIS memo? Don't you think discussion need to be healthy and fair?

I called USCIS and she said based on the information she got from his authorities, she said all the 485 application packets will be rejected with a note saying that , please apply after oct 1st if your PD is current.
I also asked her if you dont send us back by oct 1st what sould we do, she said if I dont receive by August mid, then take infopass and go to local uscis office and request for my application back.
I think all the customer service agents are aware of the issue and got informed what to answer for our questions.

I don't have any choice other than going with Fragomen because of employer restrictions... they are very slow... I have found that they only respond to the HR emails -- they will never respond to your emails and you will keep on waiting for replies for weeks together...
My LC was approved in Feb.. they took 4 months to prepare and file my I140 application which is most probably the simplest application.... After the dates became current in June - they took 10 days to send me a list of documents required for I485 despite several emails... That too happened after HR intervention.
I am fortunate that my GC process was started by other law firm... They filed my application in EB2 otherwise I am pretty sure that Fragomen would have gone for EB3. I have been with another law firm that started my GC process,,, and trust me -- it was much much better than Fragomen in spite of being a large law firm.
Fragomen should stop taking clients if they cannot handle the load... Phone calls made to their lawyers/paralegals always go to voicemail --
Don't use them if you have a choice.

This press release only shows that it is an administrative/executive fix. Either it is USCIS or DOS or the President, is what I do not know. But clearly, it is something not mandated by legislation, else USCIS/DOS would be breaking several laws by continuing to use the old bulletein.
