As someone said 1% of 1000 cases does not qualify as a bad law firm, nobody is perfect, My experiences with Fragomen has been great. They were very responsive, took initiative to give me best possible advice and worked with my management to file my AOS on time and under correct category.
If you have a problem with them then write to them and ask for explanation, I am sure they will respond.

Hey Bush,
Why dont you sign the immigration bill for US. :)
Your support is highly appreciated. I am also doing the same thing and had signed up for monthly contribution.
I would strongly suggest you to signup for monthly contribution and insist your friends too on this one. Update your signature with your pledge.
Good work, keep rocking. We need members like you.
I am really pained to read anands post.I admit that everybody has a right to speak, it doesnt mean that one has to demoralize and demean ones efforts and so many other like minded IV members.
I came to know of this site last december untill I met one of the admnstrator who had come down here for a conference.Since then I have advocated this site to so many people and in my company its a Fortune 500 company we have lot of diverse memberships like Indian ,Chinese and various other countries memberships in our company. In our indian club we have about 100 employees of indian working for this company.Apart from circulating the site I have made it a policy of calling up people on phone every weekend and telling them about this site and work lying in front of us to get it done this year.
Do you think that I am helping this site or the IV core.NO I am helping myself. So please be consructive and help the cause and help yourself.
If you are not really convinced about the direction of the efforts of the members of this site. You are entitled to walk out.Its a free country. But before you post any message give it a thought and think about the cause rather than people or IV core.

Hi all,
This discussion is very valuble for people like me deciding between living in Canada as PR vs H1B USA .We all know that salaries in USA are slightly better than Canada .But now the exchange rate is almost equal.
Salary:
Can a person with family(2 kids) survive in Canada with CAD 50,000 / year salary in a place like Toronto.? I heard in Canada you pay 13 % tax on anything you buy .Does 50 % of your income goes in taxes ?
HealthCare:
Also is the government sponsored health care good compared to USA .I mean do you have any wait to see specialists. Is healthcare comparable to USA .
Immigration:
In USA anyone can get a Greencard regardless of their qualifications and it depends how early you enter the GC queue. But looks like in Canada they value your educations and other qualifications. Can IT professionals (non-managers) apply for Canada PR without a job or canadian education?
Canadian Citizenship:
Many people want to get Canadian citizenship and return to USA with TN Visa .In future ,could USA put restrictions on this .?
Please share your thoughts .
Thankyou
yes these are very relevant qs.....will someone from canada pls advice abt these especially the cost of living, property and savings....

Dude:
If you think you are qualified for an EB2 job why don't you apply for one and get another labor/140 filed rather than crying "Sour Grapes"? Get out of your comfort zone and try getting a new job. Simple. If you have been on an Eb3 since 2004, that explains your "Go getter" attitude. Be smart dude.
Well said. Especially in IT,every company irrespective of size is a consulting company in its own perspective. If its Microsoft, majority of the products are developed with a vast team size of thousands and no one can take a complete credit on that product, except the company.
That's why its called team work.Every individual team member contributes with their specalized skills and thats what they were hired for in first place.
Its just a matter that the Company felt that your skills require only a bachelor's degree for the work that you perform, whereas other company felt it requires a master's degree.
Also as a matter of fact since the last 10 years the technology has changed in such a fast pace,I can confidently say that just because someone is an architect in J2EE does not mean he is better than a Mainframe Programmer. Its just means that someone were at the right place at the right time during the Dot com boom.
Its easy for people working at big companies to move around and work for different projects as the size is directly proportional to the number of clients the company serves. Whereas for a small firm, due to their nature of business model, its always serving the Big Fish and supporting their projects. You can find number of sub-contractors working for IBM,HP etc etc. So if an employee of Big company and a contractor working on the same project does the same work, how are you as an employee better skilled than a contractor?
Its just that you chose a comfort zone by abiding by your comapnies policies, whereas a contractor chose to move around and work on exciting projects that suits his/her challenges.
So bottomline, someone being in EB2 or EB3 is just by choice of the individual and circumstances and here I assume each of them have same experience and qualification.
Example someone having an Engg degree from IIT is no different than a person from an average engg working on the same project. Its the IIT graduate that chose to work on the project that and average engg qualification person chose to work.
Same thing applies to EB2 and EB3 as well.

I agree with most of your post, but to state that 5yrs of wait is not a catastrophic delay - you have to be really very patient, and frankly unimaginitive to know what you can do with your green card.
Going forward, only people hit with retrogression will wait for 5-7 years. And if you look at the percentage of people getting a green card, a large number of them will get it in a couple of years, while the rest of us will suffer the nonsensical country cap.
Companies hire individuals not only because they can get the job done, but also because they see that the individual will evolve in his/her role going forward. Which company will continue to keep you in the same position for 5 years, doing the same thing day after day? You have to be just dumb enough not to get promoted and with zero ambition to succeed.
Understand that we are stuck. This is not what we want.
There are companies that do not want you to evolve and despite your abilities keep you stuck in EB3: that way they get more out of you, unless you decide to quit and take further risks.

I had FREE company attorney but decided to file 485 etc. myself & it was so much better. You can easily do 140-485 etc yourself. Call me & I will tell you.
If at all use an attorney for PERM. In my situation, even that was screwed up & I had to do that myself.
It is high time, all of us capable of handling complex viral equations, do this simple job , spread the knowledge , save $$$ & contribute some savings to IV
Best wishes
Thanks Dude for your good words.
Well, I opened this thread just to have a knowledge about this which may not be useful now or in the near future; but you never know
I am working for a telecom giant and they use larrabee as their lawyer .
I, atleat, have very very bad experience with larrabee in combination with my
company's immigration department.

A canadian citizen does not have to leave this country. But if your family members are not canadian citizens then they should leave. Also a canadian citizen can get a TN visa and work in US.
Instead you could just stay here till you get a similar job, and apply for 485 when visa numbers are available.
You should ask your company to not withdraw your petition.
Better to contact a lawyer.

Well depends on the job I want to get done. New Internatinal graduates come with less salary, more enthusiam, are hardworking and would go out of their way to get some work done.
In addition to that if I have a constant supply of H1Bs why would I want to spend more money on high salary & more perks if I can train newbies in 6 months.
Good luck running your company! Just imagine this, you spend 6 months training an international grad, spend $5000 - $7000 per H1B and after 1 - 2 yrs, you will have to start all over again. After a couple of months, the "new hire" will just be angry at you (just look at all the people on this forum who curse bodyshoppers - and just to clarify - I am not implying that the company you start will be a bodyshopping firm) and he will quit your company and join someone else. And you will have to start the process all over again. The guy who you hired on H1B will be now join someone else and depending on your business, you will be left high and dry.
I know this because the very first job I joined, the philosophy at the company was to hire fresh grads (the "get them cheap" works for American Grads too). My boss used to tell me "we can get two for the price of one". The year I got hired, the company recruited 15 new grads (a new "Product Development" dept. was being started) - and I was the only H1B. After 14 months, when the business started picking up, the company did not even bother to raise our pay or even recogonize us. Guess what happened? Over a period of 2 months, 12 of us quit for better jobs. Guess who now had to look for 12 people and at the sametime deliver the product to the clients on time?
And the company was not even a "desi" company. During my time there, we used to discuss the book "Good to Great" and how we could make the company a Great Company. The management used to talk about getting the "right people on the bus". I guess finally the "right people" found out that the bus was not going their way and got off it.

Didn't we request for the same information, other than priority date stuff, that Ombudsman was looking for in 2006, does anybody know whether CIS provided him what he requested for?
Can't they reuse the same "program", as they call it, to provide us the info that we requested for? I would suggest to atleast include a reference to this Ombudsman's request in our reply letter.
I am in for contribution too.
I suggest, some of us send another email asking Ombudsman about this. Let us see what kind of response we get. It will be helpful to find if they got the data they requested in 2004. If they have not got it in about 4-5 years, are we also going to wait for a long time to get the data?
