Its not a merit system, its a disguised diversity visa in the name of skills/merit. What kind of merit system will not have qualifying points? Its a shame that Sen Kennedy's website gave examples of how people ranging from 50-89 points can get GC's. Just call it diversity visa. Its a lie of massive proportions. When is Sen Kennedy up for election?

I realized the clout that IV has grown when we got the Visa Bulletin reversal. This clout will only get stronger as Logiclife has explained. If you relate to politics in your own countries, the bigger the crowd at a politicians meeting; the bigger his clout. They can hire people to lobby for them and follow them around as a show of strength. Similarly in US if more organizations support a politician and if they can lobby independently for his agenda, it is a show of strength for him.
If you have observed election campaigns, you will see that all the ads are "Paid for" by some third party claiming no direct relation to the politician. This is the support structure in US and now after the rally IV is an organization which can provide such support as a return favor to our agenda being pushed ahead.
For the guys who sat on the sidelines and snickered at us, you have to realize we are the "brightest and the best" and we will not do something for the sake of doing it unless we know what the effects of such actions will be. We always see the big picture so just join us and work for this cause which is critical to all of us.

My Lawyer didn't file my I-485 until July 7, 2007. He never replied to my e-mails or my phone calls.
My whole experience with them appeared to be as if I know more than them. It appeared as if I had to educate them about the development.
Considered changing lawyers and also considered filing on my own. But finally thought to ahve atleast soem attorney whom i know(at least i know what can expect?).

You can argue about its merits and demerits, however when major immigration reform was debated and legislated in the 60s, diversity was set as a basis. The Diversity visa lottery speaks to this.
The H1b visa(with its absent country quotas), has now come into collision with an EB system which has these quotas. That is why we are seeing this mess.

Its not over till its over :), and its not over yet by any means. I am willing to wait and fight ;) . Everyone has priorities in life, each person would view GC situation differently. For me, its not the ultimate dream, but just a vehicle to continue my journey for some more time (with peace of mind). I am definitely looking to gray my hair in my home country or atleast be there once I am grayed haired :D
Doing an MBA/PMI and looking for managerial job is the only realistic possibility for most, I don't think most people would wanna still be programming when they turn 40/45 (depending on how old/young you feel).
My gut feel is that there will be some kind of relief by end of 2007 or early 2008

Hey guys
Just received email from CRIS regarding I-485 denial notice for both me and my wife.
I used AC21 after 9 months of filing I-485. My I-140 was approved before even filing I-485 in July fiasco.
My attorney promptly sent AC-21 and G-28 and i did see LUD on my and my wife's I-485 after that.
My previous company informed me sometime ago that they are going to revoke I-140 and probably they did and i am assuming that's what triggered this.
This is certainly a big damm mistake they did even after sending AC-21 docs and G-28.
Uh-oh! Sorry to hear that. But please keep the hope - it may not be all over yet.
Aren't they required to issue an NOID (Notice of Intent to Deny)...check this out under

Inspite of this rumor, they sent us urgent email, that they are working overnight this weekend and if possible they wud like to dispatch our 485 papers before saturday noon for Monday am delivery at uscis. We were impressed. They even didnt asked for the attorney fees in this moment , we just submitted the filing fees.

Ron kept sending email updates about what was going on. When all my friends lawyers were not picking up the phone or answering emails, Ron was sending out emails to all the clients and was encouraging them to email him and call him with questions. Having an approved 140 and a 485 pending for more than six months is the safe method of switching. For AC21, the key is to have your 485 pending for more than six months. You can use AC21 to switch employers after six months of filing of 485 even if your 140 is not approved. Its not a simple process but folks have done it.
